Qatar Airways in response to increasing demand for its services to Istanbul has announced an addition of three weekly flights to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. This will make the route daily from 26 October 2014.

The non-stop four-flights-a-week service from Doha to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport was initially launched on 22 May this year. The airline currently operates to three destinations in Turkey – Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (four-weekly-flights), Istanbul Ataturk Airport (10-flights-a-week) and Ankara (four-weekly-flights). This increases number of flights to Istanbul from 14 to 17 frequencies each week.

Qatar Airways group chief executive officer, HE Akbar Al Baker said: “The extra flights will be a great boost for travelling public from Istanbul to cities around the world.”

Turkey’s tourism industry has experienced a recent upward surge. The flights will be operated on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flight QR243 will depart at 1410 hrs, arrive Sabiha airport at 1735 hrs. While the flight QR244 will depart Sabiha Airport at 1835 hrs, arriving in Doha at 2330 hrs.
