Qatar Airways has announced that it will pull its flights from Gatwick in June. The airline, which recently doubled its daily operations from Manchester, confirmed its last flight from Gatwick will depart on 31 May. “Following a thorough review and analysis over the past few months, we concluded that we could no longer sustain the route for commercial reasons,” said Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways. “While we continue to grow our business, developing the network further, we do it prudently, cautiously and carefully. Our Gatwick-based staff have been informed of the decision and we are working very closely with them to help secure alternative positions at London Heathrow, Manchester and elsewhere within our network.”
