Qatar Airways’ maiden flight to Miami touched down on Tuesday 10 June 2014, marking the start of services to the airline’s sixth US destination.
The new route becomes the first and only direct flight between the Middle East and Miami. Services will now operate four times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, using a two-class Boeing 777-200 aircraft with 42 seats in business class and 217 in economy.
Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar Al Baker, was onboard the maiden flight.
“Miami is an essential destination in our expanding global network,” said Al Baker. “Our aim is to bring the world closer together… and we are particularly pleased that for the first time, Florida is being served from the Middle East market.”
The Miami launch continues a major expansion by the airline into the US. Direct flights to Philadelphia began in April, and Qatar Airways will commence services to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in July.
The airline also flies to Chicago, Houston, New York and Washington DC.
