Qatar Airways has said that it is not considering investing in Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet, but is talking to IndiGo.
The Doha-based carrier issued the statement this week in response to recent news reports suggesting it could take a stake in Delhi-based SpiceJet. It also confirmed that it is not talking to SpiceJet about a possible interline agreement.
“Qatar Airways presently does not have any form of interline agreement with SpiceJet… [and] is not planning to pursue any form of arrangement in the future,” the airline said in a statement.
It added that the stories could be “a tactic to increase market and share value”.
Qatar Airways went on to say that “the only airline it is talking to is the Indian carrier IndiGo”.
