Qatar Airways will start flying its Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Tokyo this summer.

Commencing on 18 June 2014, the airline will launch a brand new route from Doha to Haneda International Airport in Tokyo, using the new fuel-efficient aircraft.

The daily direct flights will depart the Qatari capital at 0735, arriving in Tokyo at 2325. The return service will then depart Haneda at 0100, getting back into Doha at 0600. All flights will be operated using the airline’s 254-seat, two-class B787-8 Dreamliner.

Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said the new Tokyo service formed part of the airline’s Asian expansion strategy.
“The airline has pursued aggressive growth in the Asian market to cater to the demand of our business and leisure passengers,” he said.

“Just last year we launched four new destinations in Asia: Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Clark International Airport in the Philippines, as well as Chengdu and Hangzhou in China.”

Haneda becomes Qatar Airways’ third gateway in Japan, following Tokyo’s other main airport, Narita, and Osaka, both of which are served daily.
