Qatar Airways has launched its first ever direct flights to Boston.
The inaugural service touched down at the city’s Logan International Airport on Wednesday, continuing the airline’s recent US expansion. Qatar Airways has already launched flights to Los Angeles this year and will commence services to Atlanta in June.
“We are pleased to be expanding services on the East Coast of the United States and providing our passengers with a direct link between Doha and the city of Boston. Boston makes a great new addition to our network, and we are pleased to add this historic community to our expanding route map of more than 150 destinations around the world,” said the airline’s group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker.
The new Boston route will be operated using Qatar Airways’ new 283-seat, two-class Airbus A350 aircraft.
The airline became the first in the world to launch A350 flights to the US when it deployed the aircraft on its Philadelphia route late last year. And the A350 will also be deployed on the airline’s Doha-New York route in April, when Qatar Airways’ launches its second daily flight to JFK Airport
“The Airbus A350 is our latest product in the fleet. We are glad to provide our passengers with the latest next-generation aircraft when travelling long-haul with Qatar Airways,” said Al Baker. “But we are also committed to investing in the communities we serve, on the ground. This new route will act as a bridge for trade, commerce and cultural exchange.”
