Qatar Airways has unveiled the new business class seat it plans to offer aboard its fleet of Airbus A330-200 and A320 aircraft.
The upgrade will include the roll-out of new flat-bed seats in both aircraft, plus a new in-flight entertainment system.
“The customer is at the heart of everything we do,” said the airline’s CEO, Akbar Al Baker. “I firmly believe in providing our passengers with the best levels of service and the best available in-flight product. And to deliver our five-star service in a consistent way is probably our greatest achievement and has been the foundation of our success to date.”
As well as reclining 180⁰, the new business class seats will feature several storage compartments, power sockets and USB ports. They will also come equipped with new Panasonic eX2 IFE systems featuring 15.4-inch monitors and touchscreen remote control handsets, which allow dual-screen mode. The A330s will also be fitted with onboard connectivity, including the ability to send and receive SMS text messages.
The upgraded A330s will initially operate on the Barcelona, Osaka, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Phuket routes, while the A320s will serve Vienna, Tunis, Milan, Rome, Geneva and Maldives.
The new seats have already been installed on seven A330-200s and nine A320s, with the remainder expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2014.
