Qatar Airways is to increase capacity on its Copenhagen and Barcelona routes for summer 2011. A daily service will now operate to the Danish capital and a wide-body A330 will be deployed on the Spanish route to double seat capacity. “We build capacity based on market conditions and the availability of aircraft, and today’s announcement shows we are positive about Copenhagen and Barcelona allowing us to deploy additional aircraft on these routes,” said Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways. “Copenhagen has been a great success story. In less than a year, we will have more than doubled capacity on the route from a narrow body to wide body aircraft, to soon becoming daily operations.” Europe is the main focus of the airline’s expansion during 2011’s first quarter - with routes to Bucharest, Budapest and Brussels to be launched in January. A Doha-Aleppo schedule will also be launched on 6 April.
