Quark Expeditions’ Sea Spirit is to host a film festival onboard during a cruise this winter.
The first Floating Polar Film Festival will take place from 2 November on a voyage departing from Buenos Aires that goes on for 23 days to the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica.
The festival has been developed in partnership with Toronto’s Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival with a selection of eight documentaries. These have been chosen with the themes of adventure, environment, globalisation, polar regions and pop culture in mind.
“From witnessing the dramatic consequences of climate change to experiencing a solo sailing voyage around the globe through the eyes of a teenager, the inaugural Floating Polar Film Festival will appeal to their sense of adventure and curiosity about the world,” said Hot Docs’ executive director Brett Hendrie.
Hot Docs’ programming manager Sarafina DiFelice will introduce and host the festival.
