Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has continued to expand its portfolio in India with the launch of a new upscale hotel in Coimbatore, the second biggest city in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

Located in the centre of the industrial city, 7km from the airport, Radisson Blu Coimbatore features 135 rooms and suites, international and Indian restaurants, a business centre, swimming pool, spa, fitness centre and extensive function space, including a 875m² banqueting hall with pre-function area.

“Radisson Blu Coimbatore is set to raise the bar on the city’s upper-upscale hospitality landscape and bring new standards to the city,” said Raj Rana, Carlson Rezidor’s CEO for South Asia. “With 140 hotels in operation and under-development, this hotel will be a valued addition as we expand and grow our footprint in South India.”

Coimbatore becomes a new destination for Carlson Rezidor, while the new opening expands the Radisson Blu brand’s Tamil Nadu portfolio to four hotels. It is not the first internationally-branded hotel in the city however; Marriott already operates Aloft and Le Meridien properties in the city.

Carlson Rezidor’s Indian portfolio has grown on average 17% per year since 2010 and the company says it is on track to achieve its target of 170 hotels in the country by 2020.
