Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has unveiled plans to launch its first Radisson in Medan.

The company’s Indonesian joint venture, PT Carlson Panorama Hospitality, has signed a management contract for the new Radisson Medan, which is expected to open in the second half of 2016 following the renovation of an existing hotel. The property will undergo a US$5 million refurbishment to bring into line with Radisson’s brand standards.

“We are proud to be planting the Radisson flag in Medan. As the economic and commercial hub of northern Indonesia, Medan is an important destination for domestic business travellers,” said Thorsten Carlson Rezidor’s president of Asia Pacific.

“Radisson Medan is a great addition to our portfolio in Indonesia where we are continuing to grow with our long-term strategic partner, Panorama Group.”

Located on Jalan H. Adam Malik in the centre of the city, Radisson Medan will offer 219 rooms and suites, plus a swimming pool, gym, restaurant, bar and meeting space, including a ballroom.

Radisson Medan will become the fifth Carlson Rezidor in Indonesia, following the Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu, Radisson Golf & Convention Center Batam, Park Inn by Radisson Lampung and Radisson Jakarta Cengkareng.

In 2013, Carlson Rezidor signed a strategic partnership with Panorama Group for the development of hotels in Bali, Jakarta and Surabaya, as well as emerging destinations such as Bandung, Bintan, Lombok, Makassar and Palembang.
