Rail Europe has been appointed as the exclusive UK trade distributor for a new Italian high-speed operator.
The rail tickets specialist is now offering sales of Italo services, which are operated by NTV on routes between major cities in competition to TrenItalia. Italo’s services will initially run between Milan and Naples via Bologna, Florence and Rome, with future destinations to include Venice, Turin and Salemo.
Italo also runs services from Rome’s Tiburtina station and Milan’s Garibaldi, which has services from Paris. Its trains are ticketless, with staff taking a reference number through PDA devices.
“Deregulation and new players mean exciting times for rail travel to and around Italy and we are delighted to be working closely with Italo and making this fabulous new service available to travel agents, tour operators and rail specialists in the UK,” said Paul Lacey, head of trade sales for Rail Europe.
