The Laguna golf course in Bintan will reopen this July following a complete redesign and extensive renovation.

The course, which is attached to the Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts on the Indonesian island, will relaunch on 1 July as an 18-hole, par-72 golf course spread across 60 hectares of land overlooking the Malacca Strait.

At 6,890 yards off the back tees, Laguna Golf Bintan offers a series of challenges and changes of scenery, including beachfront holes on the front and back nines, lagoons on holes 6 to 8, and jungle and rugged rocks from holes 10 to 15. The signature hole 17 sees golfers tee-off from a natural rock formation perched high above the sea.

“The layout of our course in Laguna Bintan is remarkably strong in terms of design and playability,” said Paul Wilson, Laguna’s group director of golf.

“Our main focus of this project has been restoring the green complexes to their original size and structure while giving emphasis to the enhancement of the natural surroundings such as highlighting the beachfront, and accentuating the natural rock formations and dense jungle.”

To relaunch the course, a new “Stay & Play” unlimited golf package is being offered at Banyan Tree Bintan and Angsana Bintan.
