High-tech movable ‘Roboscreens’ and digital shows will be part of Quantum of the Seas’ entertainment offering when it launches later this year, Royal Caribbean International has revealed.
The ship will still have stage shows but has introduced several technological developments that use special effects, visuals and performers to create something new for guests.
The Two70o stage will feature 18 projected screens that create a space covering 100 feet wide by more than 20 feet tall. The 12,000 resolution screens will offer a 270-degree background to dancers, singers, aerialists and musicians.
The venue is also home to six Roboscreens: screens that are twisted and moved by robotic arms either alone or together.
“The entertainment in Two70° is simply magical,” said Nick Weir, vice president entertainment at Royal Caribbean International. “There is an incredible team of risk takers and dreamers here at Royal Caribbean. In Two70° we are creating something that has never been done anywhere else in the world.”
The new space has spurred an original production named Starwater to be created while the screens will also host virtual concerts with musicians and groups.
Other entertainment venues include the live music venue Music Hall that will feature bands, DJs and themed party nights; the main Royal Theater that will host hit musical MAMMA MIA! and the Sonic Odyssey show that uses unusual instruments.
“Drawn from the hottest shows across the world of entertainment and cleverly blended with Royal Caribbean International’s innovation in technology and venues this really does provide a Quantum step forward in entertainment anywhere in the world let alone at sea,” said Stuart Leven, managing director UK and Ireland, Royal Caribbean International.
Quantum of the Seas will launch later this year.
