Royal Caribbean starts weddings at sea

Royal Caribbean has announced that it is now able to perform weddings at sea – with services conducted by the captain – under the Royal Romance weddings and vow renewal programme.
The ability to host services, which was awarded by the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, means that the cruise line can now offer ‘multi-destination’ weddings – catering from small to large parties.
The firm is also offering an introductory package where those booking more than 12 staterooms on a 2013 voyage will receive a complimentary ‘Romance at Sea’ package – which includes the ceremony and photography.
“Thanks to the support of the Bahamas, our guests can now be married during the course of their Royal Caribbean International cruise and bask in the romance of the sea as they exchange their vows,” said Adam Goldstein, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “Royal Caribbean International’s staff and crew will cater the affair with our world-renowned friendly and engaging service to help make the day extra special for the couple and their guests”

Royal Caribbean will also provide a team that will be dedicated to customising the wedding day – from the bride’s bouquet to providing a soloist for the ceremony. The marriage will be legally recognised by the Bahamas through the recently passed Marriage Act.
