Royal Jordanian started operating flights to the Chinese city of Guangzhou on Monday 21 March 2016.
The new service marks an extension of the airline’s existing Amman-Bangkok route, with three weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) continuing onwards from the Thai capital to Guangzhou.
The route will be served using Royal Jordanian’s 267-seat Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner or 283-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft, and the airline said the frequency of the flights could be increased in future, according to demand.
A delegation led by the national carrier’s chief commercial officer, Dr Majdi Sabri, was onboard the inaugural flight, along with members of the media, tour operators and officials from the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB).
Guangzhou becomes Royal Jordanian’s fifth destination in the Far East, following Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.
