Royal Yacht Britannia to re-enter service?

The UK Government may be looking at bringing back the Royal Yacht Britannia in service as a roving embassy.
Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has been asked by Lancashire MP, Jake Berry to recommission the vessel and bring it back as a way of promoting British interests abroad and drumming up trade post-Brexit.
The former royal yacht of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, was service from 1954 until 1997, and ever since has been a visitor attraction permanently berthed at Ocean Terminal, Leith, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The MP is calling a debate in Parliament on the issue next month, and has already presented his plans to the Foreign Secretary.
Welcoming the MP’s proposal, Harry Cotterill of Cruise Cotterill said, “Bringing the Royal Yacht Britannia back into sea-going service is a fantastic idea. A vessel with such connection to the Royal Family would no doubt attract attention where ever it sailed in the world”
A spokesman for the Foreign Secretary did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
