South African Airways (SAA) will add several more destinations in India next month, following the launch of a new codeshare partnership with Etihad and Jet Airways.

Effective 1 April 2015, SAA will re-route its Indian flights through Abu Dhabi, allowing passengers to continue onwards to India with either Etihad or Jet. This will also increase SAA’s footprint in India, adding new services to Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.

However the move will see the end of SAA’s existing direct flights between Johannesburg and Mumbai.

Between them, SAA and Etihad operate twice daily flights between Johannesburg and Abu Dhabi, with SAA’s flight departing the South African city’s OR Tambo International Airport in the morning and Etihad’s service departing in the evening.
