Sabre, JTB highlight technology’s role in transforming the travel industry

Embracing technology is key to transforming the travel industry and supporting growth of Jordan’s economy.
This was the topic discussed in depth at a recent media panel hosted by Sabre Corporation. The event, held under the patronage of HE Nayef Al Fayez, minister of tourism and antiques, was attended by travel and tourism industry leaders.
HE Nayef Al Fayez opened the event with his strategy to position Jordan as a global tourism destination and major contributor to Jordan’s economy. He was joined by panellists from the public and private sector who discussed role of technology in supporting his strategy, and in meeting high expectations of today’s travellers.
Daniel Naoumovitch, CEO Sabre Travel Network Middle East (STNME) said the global travel industry is rapidly evolving and that new technologies such as mobile, data and new retailing and personalization strategies could help Jordan travel industry be a global leader and increase its gross domestic product (GDP) contribution.
“Technology is a great enabler,” said Naoumovitch. “Continued technology investments will ensure sustained growth and profitability of our thriving and exciting industry, which will benefit the whole country. For travel businesses to succeed in this highly competitive evolving environment, it is vital to integrate new technologies into their roadmap and growth plans. This applies to all players in the travel industry.”
Other industry leaders that spoke included Michael Nazzal, CEO of Federation of Tourism Association and Dr Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat, managing director, Jordan Tourism Board.
