Sabre has appointed Sean Menke as its new president & CEO, replacing Tom Klein.
Menke will officially take up his new role on 31 December 2016, as well as taking a seat on the company’s board. The move mark a promotion for Menke, who joined Sabre in October 2015 and currently serves as president of the Sabre Travel Network. He previously worked in the airline industry, including a spell as CEO of Frontier Airlines.
“After an extensive search of qualified candidates, the board unanimously concluded that Sean is the right choice to lead Sabre,” said Larry Kellner, who will become Sabre’s executive chairman on 31 December.
“Since his arrival last year, Sean has demonstrated that his strong industry knowledge and expertise coupled with his decisive, results-oriented management style are an effective combination. These traits will help Sabre drive innovation as the travel industry’s technology leader and serve the needs of airlines, hotels, travel agents and travellers alike. I look forward to working with Sean to make this happen,” he added.
Tom Klein announced his intention to resign in June this year. He has led the company since 2013, and his contribution included guiding Sabre through its IPO in 2014.
“It’s an honour to succeed Tom and build on his strategic vision for Sabre and to lead such a talented team to capitalise on this opportunity,” Menke commented.
