Starwood Hotels & Resorts has opened its first Luxury Collection property in the Chinese beach resort of Sanya.
The Royal Begonia, A Luxury Collection Resort, occupies a 370-metre beachfront plot at Haitang Bay. It features 142 luxury guest rooms and 18 private villas overlooking the South China Sea, as well as a beachfront spa and a selection of bars and restaurants, including the opportunity to dine at a ‘floating restaurant’ on nearby Coconut Island.
“The debut of The Royal Begonia on China’s Hainan Island marks a true milestone for The Luxury Collection as we continue our journey to open a record number of hotels and resorts in Asia Pacific by the end of this year,” said Paul James, Global Brand Leader for St Regis and the Luxury Collection. “As the itinerary of global travellers evolves well beyond the traditional luxury grid, we are thrilled to debut this jewel on the South China Sea as the latest must-visit destination.”
With this opening, the Luxury Collection brand has now debuted 10 properties in Asia Pacific this year, including locations in Shanghai, Jaipur, Chennai, Koh Samui and Jakarta.
