Scoot touched down in Melbourne for the first time on 1 November 2015.
The Singapore-based low-cost carrier received a traditional water cannon welcome on Sunday, when its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft arrived at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport. This marked the start of a new scheduled service to Australia’s second largest city, with flights operating five times a week, rising to daily in peak travel periods.
Depending on the departure date, flights will depart Singapore at 0010 every Tuesday and Wednesday and 0100 on the remaining days of the week, landing in Melbourne at 1030 or 1120.
The return flights also operate on a split schedule, departing Melbourne at 1145 every Tuesday and Wednesday and 1230 on all other days, and arriving back in Singapore at 1615 or 1725.
All flights will be operated using Scoot’s two-class B787 aircraft.
“Scoot has long received requests to fly to Melbourne, Australia’s sporting and cultural capital, so we’re delighted to finally be doing so,” said Campbell Wilson, Scoot’s CEO. “We’re even more pleased to be using a brand-new 787, part of the world’s first all Dreamliner fleet.”
Melbourne becomes Scoot’s fourth Australian destination, following Sydney, Perth and the Gold Coast.
