Scoot has become the latest airline to offer passengers the option of flying in quiet, child-free sections of the cabin.
A new product called ‘ScootinSilence’ will see the Singapore-based airline reserve 41 seats of its Boeing 777 aircraft for passengers wanting to travel in peace and quiet. Located in rows 21 to 25, behind the ‘ScootBiz’ cabin, ScootinSilence will be available only to passengers above the age of 12. Seats will also have a pitch of 35 inches – four more than Scoot’s standard economy class seats.
“ScootinSilence is the perfect option for guests seeking an exclusive cabin, extra legroom and confidence that under 12s will be seated in another part of the aircraft,” said the airline’s CEO, Campbell Wilson.
“No offence to our young guests or those travelling with them – you still have the rest of the aircraft,” he added.
Earlier this year, Scoot’s long-haul low-cost rival AirAsia X launched a similar scheme, while Malaysia Airlines also has child-free areas on some of its long-haul aircraft.
