Luxury cruise company Seabourn will sail to Antarctica for the first time in 2013.

Its newest ship, Seabourn Quest, will begin a series of four 21- to 24-day voyages sailing between Valparaiso in Chile and Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires in November next year.

The all-suite ship will cruise the Chilean coast and fjords before visiting Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego and cruising round Cape Horn bound for the Southern Ocean. Guests will then experience five days in Antarctica including trips in smaller inflatable boats to explore the scenery, before cruising to Buenos Aires via the Falkland Islands and Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo.

“Seabourn is already renowned for our extensive portfolio of worldwide itineraries,” said Seabourn’s President Richard Meadows. “Antarctica was the only continent that Seabourn did not feature in our itineraries. This expands our global reach to all seven continents and builds on our already impressive list of exotic destinations. Seabourn is very proud to be bringing our highly rated ultra-luxury cruise experience to Antarctica.”

The launch of the new ‘Ultimate Antarctica & Patagonia’ sailings means that Seabourn now sails to all seven continents. Bookings open for sale on 4 September 2012.
