Seabourn has released a statement in the wake of the firm’s decision to sell half of its fleet to Windstar Cruises. The statement, which is addressed to the firm’s travel partners, is written by the company’s president, Richard D. Meadows. We’ve published the statement in full below:
Dear Travel Partner,
I am writing to inform you that Seabourn has completed an agreement for the sale of Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend. This is obviously an important decision for Seabourn and one that also affects our loyal travel partners and Seabourn Club members, many of whom feel great affection for these unique ships, as indeed do we. I want to clarify what the sale will mean for the company and for you.
There will be no disruption in service or changes in operations on any currently published Seabourn voyages. Seabourn Pride will be transferred after its published schedule ends in April, 2014. The Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend will be transferred in April 2015 and May 2015, respectively. This timetable offers your clients ample opportunities to enjoy one or more voyages on these uniquely intimate ships. During the transition, Seabourn is fully committed to continuing to deliver our award-winning standards on these three vessels and providing our clientele with the ultra-luxury service and onboard product they have come to expect.
Based on the success of Seabourn Pride, Spirit, and Legend over nearly two decades, we created Seabourn Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest as an evolution of the Seabourn experience. With the same personalised, intuitive service and relaxed social atmosphere for which the company is renowned, the newer ships offer enhanced accommodations, amenities and features made possible on a larger vessel. Hailed as ‘a game changer’ for the ultra-luxury cruise segment, these ships have been very well received by you and your luxury cruising clientele. We believe that these gracious ships embody the future of ultra-luxury cruising and it is likely we will announce an order for a fourth ship of similar design within the current fiscal year. The new ship will allow us to maintain much of our current guest capacity.
We appreciate your continued support and loyalty.
Sincerely,
Richard D. Meadows
President, Seabourn
