Thailand’s Onyx Hospitality Group has continued to expand in Hong Kong with the signing of a fourth Shama-branded serviced residence in the city.
The company now manages seven properties in Hong Kong, five of which are under the Shama label. And this will soon become six, after Onyx secured a management contract for the new Shama Island North Hong Kong.
Due to open in 2017, the new property will feature 121 keys, including 29 hotel rooms and 92 serviced apartments. The apartments comprise studios, one- and two-bedroom units. The property will also feature a fitness centre, lounge, roof terrace, business centre and self-service laundry facilities.
This becomes the fourth Shama property in Hong Kong that Onyx will operate in partnership with the Tai Hung Fai Group, following the Shama Hollywood, Shama Fortress Hill and Shama Midlevels.
“As part of our expansion plan within the North Asia region, we are excited to step up our strategic partnership with our trusted partner Tai Hung Fai Group, by the introduction of the new Shama Island North – our fourth property together,” said Tommy Lai, Onyx’s vice president for North Asia.
“Our collaboration will continue to bring more serviced apartment offerings to guests staying in Hong Kong, and will help further bolster Shama’s leadership position within the industry.”
Onyx currently manages 19 Shama serviced residences across Asia Pacific, including the six in Hong Kong. The brand will also make its debut in nearby Guangzhou in 2017, as part of a major expansion in mainland China.
Aside the Shama properties, Onyx also operates Ozo and Mosaic Collection hotels in Hong Kong.
