Shanghai Disney Resort has launched a major new campaign to recruit students.
Through its 2014 China Campus Roadshow Program, the resort’s management will visit several universities and colleges in China to showcase the career opportunities on offer at the new attraction. The campaign will start in Shanghai before moving into other provinces, including Zhejiang, Anhui and Henan.
“In the coming two years, the development of Shanghai Disney Resort will rapidly generate many great employment opportunities for Chinese talent at all levels,” said Mike Crawford, general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort. “We are seeking to attract local talent from Shanghai and across China who are interested in the tourism and service industry.”
Shanghai Disney Resort will need to recruit thousands of new graduates to fill a wide range of positions in areas including food and beverage, merchandising, park operations and hotel operations.
In parallel with the campus roadshow, Shanghai Disney Resort’s entertainment team will conduct sessions at performing arts colleges in Shanghai in a bid to fill the resort’s entertainment roles.
Meanwhile, the Shanghai Disney Resort’s two partners, Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi Group, have announced a deal to invest an extra US$800 million in the joint venture. The increased funding will be used for new rides, entertainment facilities, dining and retail venues in the park. The two companies had already allocated US$4 billion for the project.
The Shanghai Disney Resort is currently under construction and due to start operating in late 2015.
