Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts has continued its rapid growth in China with the opening of a new property in Changzhou, in the eastern province of Jiangsu.
Located in the Wujin Hi-tech Industrial Park and adjacent to the newly-built Xihu International Community complex, the Shangri-La Hotel Changzhou is designed to cater to business travellers and the MICE sector.
The property offers 350 rooms and suites ranging from 45 to 225m². All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with views of city or Lake Xihu. The hotel also becomes the largest event venue in the city, with over 2,500m² of space able to accommodate up to 1,500 delegates, including a 1,500m² pillar-free ballroom with the biggest LED screen in Changzhou, seven function rooms, a dedicated VIP room, the 250m² ‘Chairman’s Room’, and two pre-dining rooms that overlook the lake.
The hotel’s 4,000m² health club is also the largest in Changzhou and includes a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and a spa. The hotel also houses three restaurants and two lounges, including a Latin-inspired bar with Cuban cigars.
Shangri-La now has 33 hotels open in China, but with more than 20 others in the pipeline, the Hong Kong-based hotelier is planning to expand rapidly in the country in the coming years.
