Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts is on the verge of opening its second hotel in Shenyang, the capital of northern China’s Liaoning province.
Located on Qingnian Avenue in the Shenhe district of the city, the Shangri-La Hotel Shenyang will launch on 1 August 2013, featuring 424 rooms, free Wi-Fi and a range of high-end facilities. These include a spa with nine treatment rooms, a rooftop tennis court, indoor heated swimming pool and fitness centre, plus 4,026m² of conference and banqueting space set across two floors.
The hotel will also feature a range of F&B outlets, including a top-floor Japanese restaurant with sushi and sake bars and a rooftop terrace, an international cafe and Chinese restaurant with 13 private dining rooms.
Shenyang is home to the only other imperial palace in China, apart from the Beijing’s Forbidden City, and Shangri-La said it wanted the hotel to reflect this style in the new hotel. To achieve this, guests are greeted by a grand lobby with a 10-metre-high ceiling supported by marble pillars, and decorated with a large replica of a Song Dynasty painting.
The five-star Shangri-La Hotel Shenyang will be the second Shangri-La-managed property in the city, following the Traders Hotel Shenyang.
