In an effort to ensure right practices are being adopted in health, hygiene and environment guidelines across hotels, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has launched an inspection campaign. The 10-day inspection campaign will check 107 hotel facilities ensuring that the various factors are adhered.
“Hotels are given a 20-day deadline to carry out maintenance,” said HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, director general, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.
Al Midfa reiterated the need to constantly follow up on pace of development and level of services. Sharjah welcomed more than a million hotel guests during the first half of this year, he said emphasising the role played by hotel establishments.
The authority has been regularly discussing trends and key developments in tourism with hospitality players. This has also resulted in a smooth cooperation between both parties during major events, festivals and exhibitions hosted by the emirate.
Al Midfa further added that SCTDA is busy preparing for the grand celebrations marking the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2015 for Sharjah. This event requires all stakeholders to provide seamless tourism experiences for international visitors and hotel guests.
