IHG has signed an agreement with the Amburaya Resort Company that will see the Sheraton Pattaya Resort rebrand as an InterContinental.
The renamed InterContinental Pattaya Resort will be launched in April 2016, becoming the luxury brand’s fourth property in Thailand and IHG’s second hotel in Pattaya, following the existing Holiday Inn.
Set directly on the beach and close to the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Center, the property offers 156 rooms and villas in a resort-style setting with three lagoon-style swimming pools. Other facilities include two restaurants, a lounge, fitness centre, spa and space for meetings and events, including the 410m² Phratamnak Ballroom.
“As one of Thailand’s top beach destinations, Pattaya attracts both international visitors and locals from other Thai cities looking for an idyllic weekend getaway,” said Clarence Tan, IHG’s senior vice president of development for Asia, the Middle East & Africa (AMEA). “Phratamnak Hill is a prime location and one of the most exclusive areas along the coastline, which is perfect for the first InterContinental resort to cater to guests who want a luxurious experience.
“We’ve had a great partnership with Amburaya Resort Company Limited who we launched our Holiday Inn Express brand in Bangkok with, and we are delighted to work with them again to provide guests with exceptional experiences in Pattaya.”
InterContinental Pattaya Resort will join the InterContinental Bangkok, InterContinental Hua Hin Resort and InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort in the brand’s Thai portfolio. And the company recently unveiled plans to open a brand new InterContinental resort in Phuket in 2019.
