Shurooq explores cooperation with Ajman Municipality

The Emirates of Sharjah and Ajman are currently exploring co-operative measures in the areas of tourism and investment.

A delegation from Ajman Municipality and Planning Department recently visited the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). HE Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), received the delegation led by HE Ali Mohammed Khalifa Al Muwaijei Al Shamsi, Executive Manager of Support Services sector at Ajman Municipality and Planning Department.

In the meeting, both entities explored possible avenues of cooperation and areas of joint work and exchanged views on jointly developing expertise in areas of tourism and ways to attract investors.

They also discussed means to upgrade and improve public services and vital need to forge partnerships in future projects, achieve objectives of the Emirates of Sharjah and Ajman in particular, and the UAE in general.

Marwan Al Sarkal highlighted Shurooq’s tourism business and investment potential. He underlined Sharjah’s prominent attractions and business potential as revealed by a study, conducted by Shurooq in collaboration with Deloitte. Al Sarkal said the study offers an overview of investment trends and prospects and serves as a guide to different investment sectors.

Al Sarkal noted that the study reveals four key sectors, including Travel and tourism, transport and logistics, healthcare and environment will witness a phenomenal growth over the next five years.

The meeting also deliberated on ways to enhance mutually beneficial avenues of cooperation and collaboration. Different methods were also considered to enable both entities in taking appropriate decisions based on scientific data and help improve working environment and services provided to all segments of society.
