SIA signs to train Singaporean students
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with three Singapore-based polytechnics, offering training and employment for new flight attendants.
The MoUs, signed with Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic, will see selected students offered training with SIA and possibly employment contracts to become full-time cabin crew. The airline will also work with the polytechnics to develop curriculum, in relation to service, operations, and safety and security, as well as education programmes for cabin crew.
“We are pleased to work with the three polytechnics through this special programme, which will enhance Singapore Airlines’ ability to continue attracting the best talent and cater to our operational needs as we grow,” said SIA’s Acting Senior Vice President for Cabin Crew, Marvin Tan.
“Singapore Airlines believes strongly in programmes that benefit the communities in which we operate. These partnerships with three of Singapore’s polytechnics are consistent with our longstanding support for educational initiatives.”
SIA employs nearly 7,500 cabin crew, and said it is “seeking suitable candidates, including those from various universities and polytechnics in Singapore”. New crew will undergo a 15-week training programme prior to working with SIA.
