Sixty big-name hotel chains have signed up to a new safety module to scientifically maintain hygiene in hotel rooms.

InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Barcelo and Hard Rock Hotels are amongst those to have signed up for the RoomCheck auditing system that use forensic techniques to check the standard of room cleanliness.

Mark Harrington, CEO of Check Safety First outlined how safety can lead to damaging a hotel’s reputation and lead to potential lawsuits.

“Hotel rooms with poor hygiene standards are health risks and can lead to the transmission of infections such as staphylococcus aureus, E. Coli and norovirus, to name a few. Hotels tend to think they are on top of hygiene but even the most luxurious ones can slip up,” he explained.
