Switzerland-based carrier SkyWork Airlines has announced it will switch its flight from London City to London Southend in October.
The Southend to Bern route will commence twice daily on 27 October, departing Essex at 8.15 to arrive in Bern at 10.55.
The return journey will leave Bern at 18.40 and land at Southend at 19.30.
The airline said it has made the move as a result of Southend Airport gaining top accreditation from Which?, although the Essex airport offers cheaper landing charges than those in the capital.
SkyWork’s chief commercial officer Maren Fides Schmelz said: “We are pleased to be connected twice a day with London’s sixth airport, customer friendly London Southend Airport and we are looking forward to an engaging and exciting collaboration.”
London Southend Airport Managing Director Roger Clements said “We are delighted that SkyWork has taken the decision to move its operations from City to London’s newest, simply easier airport. It is the unique customer service commitments that only we offer, along with unrivalled onward transport links, which have led to this move. We look forward to working with SkyWork and hope they are the first of many new partners we will be welcoming here at London Southend Airport.”
