AccorHotels has unveils plans to launch its luxury So Sofitel brand in Kuala Lumpur.
Developed by Oxley Holdings, the new 207-room So Sofitel Hotel and 590-key So Sofitel Residence will be located in the centre of KL, close to the Petronas Towers and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. They will form part of a major new mixed-use development that will also include an office tower, shopping mall and other luxury hotels and residences.
Upon completion in 2020, the So Sofitel will become the brand’s first property in Malaysia, while the So Sofitel Residences will mark AccorHotels’ first branded residence in Asia.
“We are delighted to partner with Oxley for the development of the So Sofitel Hotel and Residences Kuala Lumpur,” said Michael Issenberg, chairman & CEO of AccorHotels Asia Pacific. “Oxley has a reputation for building quality projects and we are pleased they have entrusted us with this landmark development after working with us on the Novotel and Ibis development on Stevens Road, Singapore.”
The hotel facilities will include four F&B outlets, a large pool area, a gym, spa, club lounge, business centre and several function spaces.
The residences will feature their own lounge, a gym and yoga room, separate adults’ and children’s pool, a games room, kids’ playground, function room and sky gardens with barbecue facilities. Residents will also be offered the services of the hotel, including housekeeping, in-room dining, laundry and concierge.
The announcement of the new So Sofitel project comes just weeks after AccorHotels signed a new Sofitel in Malaysia. The 312-room Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara will form part of the new Damansara City complex, half way between KL and Petalingjaya.
So Sofitel is a more contemporary version of the classic Sofitel brand.
