AccorHotels has launched its first Sofitel in the Chinese city of Kunming.

The new Sofitel Kunming is a 400-room luxury hotel located in the centre of Yunnan’s capital city, and becomes the first internationally-branded five-star hotel in the CBD.

“The opening of Sofitel Kunming marks a period of swift expansion in China for AccorHotels,” said Paul Richardson, AccorHotels’ chief operating officer for Greater China. “Set to become the luxury benchmark in the gateway city of Kunming, the hotel is an ideal choice for travellers who enjoy world-class hospitality with an authentic French experience.”

The hotel is set on the 27th to 52nd floors of a skyscraper, offering views across Kunming. F&B options include Le Chinois Chinese Restaurant, which serves Yunnan, Cantonese and Sichuan dishes, Lan Pan Asian Restaurant which serves Southeast Asian cuisine, a Japanese robata grill and soba noodle kitchen. There is also a 50th floor bar and a lobby lounge.

Other facilities at the hotel include a spa, fitness centre and an indoor heated swimming pool, and the MICE market is catered for with eight function rooms and a 52nd floor ballroom, which features a rooftop garden area.

AccorHotels now operates four hotels in Yunnan province, including locations in Lijiang, Shangri-La and Kunming.
