Cambodia’s Sokha Hotels & Resorts has launched a major new fitness centre, which becomes by far the largest such facility in Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor Wat.

The new 3,200m² Sokha Fitness will cater to Sokha’s hotel guests as well as to “individuals and families in the surrounding areas”, who will be able to access to facilities. Covering three separate levels, the fitness centre features modern equipment and will host regular classes such as spinning, yoga and martial arts such as Kung Fu.

Until this opening, the largest fitness centre in Siem Reap covered just 120m².

The new centre will be managed by Tony Bui, who will head up a team of fitness professionals. Bui has previously competed in the Asian Games and reached the summit of Mount Everest in 2008.

“This new fitness complex has natural, light, air-conditioned work-out rooms and will feature fitness space for cardio, mind and body, strength and conditioning, dance and high performance workouts,” said Bui. “It’s exactly what Siem Reap has been waiting for.”

The new fitness centre is located in a separate building, but complements the health and leisure facilities of the new 770-room Sokha Siem Reap Resort, which opens in September 2016.

These hotel facilities will include a spa featuring 21 treatment rooms, jacuzzis and saunas, 1,050m² salt-water swimming pool, and a 2,800m² pool terrace that will host early morning tai chi and yoga classes for up to 200 people.
