SpiceJet, the Indian low-cost carrier, has announced plans to add more flights on several routes, including the Delhi-Kabul sector.
Effective 8 February 2016, the airline will add two more weekly flights between the capital cities of India and Afghanistan, taking the total frequency of the route to five flights per week. Services will now run every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
In addition, SpiceJet will be adding extra flights on four domestic routes. The services connecting Chennai with Kochi and Hyderabad will both be increased to four flights per day, while the Bengaluru-Vijayawada and Hyderabad-Vijayawada routes will rise to two daily flights.
The airline has also increased seat capacity on some several domestic routes, including Delhi-Varanasi and Delhi-Dehradun, by switching from a 78-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft to a 186-seat Boeing 737.
“We are always looking at ways to improve our network capacity so that we can continue to offer the best possible services to our customers while providing them with more flexibility. Our current enhanced schedule comes in time to add considerable depth to our existing network, thereby helping us better serve the increased demand in growing markets,” said Shilpa Bhatia, SpiceJet’s senior vice president of commercial.
SpiceJet currently operates 293 daily flights to 40 destinations, including six international hubs.
