SpiceJet has launched flights to its seventh international destination: Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
The new short, cross-border hop between Kolkata and Dhaka commenced on 23 March 2017 and will now operate daily. Flights will depart Kolkata at 0710 and arrive in Dhaka at 0835, before leaving the Bangladeshi capital at 0920 and landing back on Indian soil at 0940.
“We believe that international markets have a huge potential and hence expanding our global footprint has always been a prerogative. With our much awaited mega Boeing deal finally concluded the time is now ripe for SpiceJet to eye new markets and boost connectivity,” said SpiceJet’s chairman & managing director, Ajay Singh, referring to the recent deal to acquire up to 205 new aircraft.
“As we work towards placing more aircraft into our fleet, we will aggressively look at newer and enhanced connections in both the regional and international markets.
“The new daily flight on the Kolkata-Dhaka route will help increase the connectivity with Bangladesh from India. Travellers coming for medical and business purposes will benefit from this new flight,” he added.
Dhaka becomes the seventh international destination in SpiceJet’s network, following Kabul, Malé, Muscat, Colombo, Bangkok and Dubai.
