“We are in very advanced stages of a capital infusion discussion with an external entity that when completed will help us clean up our arrears and rebuild with confidence,” SpiceJet said in a statement.

The low-cost carrier has been a potential target by foreign airlines after rules for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) were eased in 2012.

The airline last week recorded an after tax loss of INR325 crore.

SpiceJet has promoted Kamal Hingorani as the Senior Vice President and Head of Customer Experience at SpiceJet. In this role, Hingorani will look into Inflight, Catering and Customer Relations as well as be responsible for customer interface training for Ground and Airport Services (including Security) in addition to inflight services department.

“Much of this was reporting to me directly, and now I am glad to pass it on to safe hands. Needless to say, I will still maintain a very close eye on everything to do with our customer experience and pass my inputs to Kamal,” said Sanjiv Kapoor, chief operating officer of the airline.

Furthermore, Ashwin Noronha will be joining the airline as the Head of Ground and Airport Services, from the consulting and auditing firm KPMG. Noronha brings 14 years of airline industry experience and specialises in ground handling and airline ground operations.
