SpiceJet’s passenger number dips in March

SpiceJet’s passenger number dipped last month as compared to March 2013.
Despite announcing heavy discounts, the low-cost carrier carried 11% fewer passengers with 9.41 lakh passengers in March 2014 as compared to 10.58 lakh passengers in the same month last year.
Other domestic carriers like IndiGo saw a 30.99% increase in market share in March from 29.6% in February as it carried 12.4% more passengers as compared to the same month last year. IndiGo carried 16.01 lakh passengers as compared to 14.23 lakh passengers in the same month last year.
Jet Airways market share dropped marginally to 23% in March from 24.1% in February, while GoAir saw improvement in its performance by carrying 8% more passengers last month as compared to March 2013. Air India’s number of passengers increased 4.7% with total 9.82 lakh passenger travelling in March 2014, reported the Economic Times.
