SpiceRoads adds tours to Pakistan and Kazakhstan
SpiceRoads Cycle Tours has launched two new itineraries to Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
The 15-day ‘Biking Pakistan’s Karakoram Highway’ tour includes cycling 560km in 10 days, taking in Skardu, the gateway to K2, the Indus River, and the Karakoram mountain range. Riders will camp for four nights, two of those at locations above 4,000 metres.
Another 15-day tour takes in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, along a 600km route over 11 cycling days. The tour starts in Almaty, where a helicopter is used to take riders up to 3,500 metres in the Tien Shan mountains, from where they will cycle a 1,300-metre descent. After an ascent of Chon Ashy Pass, the route descends into Kyrgyzstan where a night is spent before returning to Kazakhstan and ending in Almaty.
Two Pakistan 2012 departures are scheduled on 24 June and 26 August, while the Kazakhstan departures are set for 8 July and 9 August.
