The airline is looking to penetrate Tier II cities, mostly located in the southern region of India. The carrier is in talks with full service carrier, Jet Airways for a code-share agreement. “We had over 100 flights to India but reduced this due to slow demand. Now we are operating around 70-72 flights,” Kapila Chandrasena, CEO of SriLankan Airlines told The Indian Express.

The island nation aims to receive 2.5 million tourists by 2015. India accounts for around 10% of the total visiting the country.

SriLankan Airlines is looking at re-starting their operations to Hyderabad and Calicut.
