Sands China and Starwood have reached a major milestone in the development of the first ever St Regis hotel in Macau.
The project recently celebrated its ‘topping out’, as the new hotel reached its highest structural point. The St Regis Macao Cotai Central is now on track to welcome its first guests in the third quarter of 2015.
Once open, it will become the fourth and final hotel in the Sands Cotai Central integrated resort, joining the existing Conrad, Holiday Inn and Sheraton properties.
“This construction milestone is the latest example of Sheldon Adelson’s vision of a world-class integrated resort destination on Cotai turned into a reality,” said Edward Tracy, president & CEO of Sands China. “It represents Sands China’s confidence in the future of Macau and our continued commitment to its development into a world centre of tourism and leisure.
“Bringing the St Regis brand to Sands China’s unparalleled integrated resort city on Cotai further diversifies the tourism offering in Macau, and helps raise the profile of the city as a global destination for business and leisure travellers,” he added.
St Regis Macao Cotai Central will be a 38-storey, 400-room luxury hotel. Together with its sister properties, plus the Venetian Macao and The Plaza Macao, which includes a Four Seasons hotel, the Sands Cotai Strip area will offer a total of 9,000 rooms and suites and extensive retail, F&B, leisure, MICE and gaming facilities.
