Starwood has signed an agreement to debut its Aloft brand in Melbourne.
Scheduled to open in early 2019, the new-build hotel will form the centrepiece of the 402 Chapel development, located in the city’s South Yarra district. The hotel will be 40 minutes’ drive from Melbourne Airport.
“We’re delighted to bring the first Aloft hotel to the city of Melbourne. The brand continues to experience rapid growth globally and locally here in Australia, where we currently have two Aloft hotels under construction in Adelaide and Perth,” said Sean Hunt, Starwood’s vice president for the Pacific.
“The Aloft brand… is the perfect match for a vibrant and sophisticated city like Melbourne, where there is a growing demand for affordable yet stylish tech-forward hotels.”
Aloft Melbourne South Yarra will offer 176 rooms, all featuring the brand’s signature high ceilings and large windows. It will also include a lounge, bar and “grab and go” F&B area, plus a fitness centre, rooftop terrace, swimming pool and 300m² of function space.
The new Aloft joins Starwood’s portfolio of 29 hotels in the Pacific region, 17 of which are currently operating. The Aloft Perth Rivervale and Aloft Adelaide are set to open in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
