Starwood has unveiled plans to launch its first Luxury Collection hotel in the Chinese city of Changsha.
The Meixi Lake Hotel will join the high-end portfolio in September 2016, marking Starwood’s second hotel in Hunan’s provincial capital and the eighth Luxury Collection property in mainland China.
Located in Changsha’s Xiangjiang New Zone district, the hotel will feature 310 rooms and suites overlooking the city, Meixi Lake and the Meixi Lake International Cultural & Arts Center, which was designed by world-famous architect Zaha Hadid.
Facilities will include four restaurants, a 25-metre heated indoor swimming pool, a 1,100m² spa with 14 treatment rooms, and 2,700m² of meeting space including the vast 1,090m² Jin Mao Grand Ballroom.
“The Luxury Collection Hotel Changsha will offer an urban oasis of modern luxury where guests can enjoy serene river views, captivating culture and prime access to the city’s multi-layered history,” said Eddie Tang, general manager of the Meixi Lake Hotel.
“Every detail in this hotel – from building materials and finishes to the epicurean offerings – was carefully considered to evoke an authentic experience that reflects Changsha’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.”
Starwood currently operates a Sheraton hotel in Changsha, but the company has significant expansion plans for the city, with new Le Meridien, Four Points by Sheraton, St Regis, Westin and W hotels all due to open between now and the end of the decade.
