Starwood has continued its rapid expansion in China with the launch of its first hotel in Qinhuangdao, the port city in Hebei province.

The Sheraton Qinhuangdao Beidaihe Hotel is located at the crossing of Binhai Avenue and Lianfeng Road and features 243 rooms and suites plus a fitness centre, indoor heated swimming pool and four F&B outlets, including a Chinese restaurant and the outdoor Fountain Bar. The property also offers 1,800m² of event space, consisting of a grand ballroom, five meeting rooms and a pre-function area.

“Sheraton continues to be one of the most sought-after brands for emerging cities in China, thanks to its long established presence since 1985 with the Sheraton Great Wall Beijing Hotel,” said Qian Jin, Starwood’s president for Greater China.

“The legacy of the Sheraton brand in China will enable Sheraton Qinhuangdao Beidaihe to benefit from the brand’s recognition, and we are delighted to offer world-class services to guests travelling to Qinhuangdao city.”

Located on the Bohai Sea, northeast of Beijing, Qinhuangdao is popular with visitors from the capital. Starwood’s move into the city forms part of its plan to operate 500 Sheraton hotels in China by 2015, with much of this expansion occurring in the country’s fast-growingsecondary and tertiary cities.

China is Starwood’s largest market outside the US, with 120 hotels in operation and more than 100 in the pipeline.
