Starwood has expanded its Four Points by Sheraton brand in Malaysia, with the opening of a new property in Penang.
The company has taken over the management of the 220-room Tanjung Bungah beachfront resort and rebranded it as the Four Points by Sheraton Penang. Following an extensive renovation, the hotel now features a large lobby with views of the Straits of Malacca, an outdoor pool, 24-hour fitness centre, restaurant and the brand’s signature Best Brew Pub.
For the corporate and events markets, there is also more than 1,100m² of meeting space across four venues, including two ballrooms.
“Four Points by Sheraton Penang offers travellers a fresh, new option on this scenic island, which is a popular choice for meetings and conventions as well as leisure,” said Chuck Abbott, Starwood’s regional vice president, for Southeast Asia. “This is the fourth Four Points to open in Malaysia as we continue to aggressively grow the brand across Asia Pacific.”
Four Points first launched in Malaysia in 2009 and now operates in four destinations – Kuching, Langkawi, Sandakan and Penang.
