Starwood has reached a major milestone in its Japanese expansion, with the launch of its first ever luxury hotel in Tokyo.
The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, which forms part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection, is located in a new upscale development called Tokyo Garden Terrace Kioicho, which also features commercial, residential, retail and entertainment spaces. It becomes the second Luxury Collection hotel in Japan following the launch of the Suiran hotel in Kyoto last year.
“With more than 100 hotels in more than 30 countries, the growth of the Luxury Collection reflects the heightened demand for experiential luxury travel,” said Meredith Dichter, global brand director of the Luxury Collection. “The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho allows global explorers a unique way to discover this ever-dynamic capital city.”
Located on the 30th to 36th floors of a skyscraper, the hotel features 250 rooms and suites and four F&B outlets, including Japanese and international restaurants and a “sky lounge”. Other facilities include a spa, fitness centre, large indoor pool and business centre.
The adjacent Akasaka Prince Classic House, which dates back to the 1930s and was the former residence of the last crown prince of Korea, is now home to a French bistro, bar and banqueting hall.
The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho becomes Starwood’s third hotel in the Japanese capital, following the upscale Westin Tokyo and Sheraton Miyako Tokyo. It also becomes the 20th Starwood hotel in Japan, in a portfolio that now covers 12 destinations and five brands.
